Modern thermal preservation demands packaging that can withstand extreme retort conditions (typically 121°C to 135°C for 30 to 60 minutes) without loss of structural adhesion, delamination, or barrier impairment. Traditional metal cans are heavy, costly to ship, and require energy-intensive processing. High-barrier flexible retort pouches offer a direct, high-performance alternative.
Retort pouches are manufactured using laminated structures consisting of multiple technical film layers. Polyester (PET) serves as the external printing layer, offering high temperature resistance and structural strength. Below this, Nylon (BOPA) provides exceptional puncture and abrasion resistance. A core barrier layer of Aluminum Foil (AL) or transparent AlOx/SiOx composite blocks out light, moisture, and oxygen, reducing the Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) to near zero. Finally, Cast Polypropylene (CPP) is used on the interior layer for reliable food contact and high-strength thermal seal integrity.
